Greater Houston Community Foundation
We are excited to welcome a new program affiliate in Houston who will be the first Three Pillars Program started in Texas! The Houston Youth Philanthropist program is starting as a smaller group of 9 high school students as they transition from the youth leadership program that existed already. This group of students will be granting out $10,000 to local community organizations during their first year in the program. This is an exciting group of students to include in the implementation, as they are all experienced to some degree in philanthropic activities and will likely be able to use that experience to start this program on a very strong base and set the example for the following cohorts.
In just the first couple of months that this program has been up and running in Houston, Program Coordinator Allison Hale says the youth leaders and mentors are already “really enjoying the curriculum, and it’s been a rewarding experience”. In such a bustling city, we can’t wait to see how much these students are able to accomplish and are proud to welcome them to our affiliate community!
